Darlington refurbishment project

Once complete, this project will enable production of clean, safe, low-cost, and emission-free electricity from Darlington for 30 more years.

  Central Ontario is home to 20 of our hydroelectric facilities, some of which, like our Sills Island Generating Station, have been part of their community for more than one hundred years.

  Eastern Ontario is host to one gas-fired generating station and 15 of our hydroelectric generating stations on the St. Lawrence, Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers.

  Northeastern Ontario contains 14 of our hydroelectric stations, including several we built or redeveloped through key partnerships with local Indigenous communities.

Northeastern Ontario communities

These stations, their employees, our host communities, and our First Nation partners play an important role in helping generate clean, reliable power for Ontario.

Road and dam access restrictions

We're performing upgrades some of our stations in Northeastern Ontario, which may impact road access across dams, and along roads on or near our property. Drivers wishing to cross should expect intermittent delays or temporary closures. We thank the public for their patience and continued commitment to road safety.

Matabitchuan GS bailey bridge replacement

Ontario Power Generation will be completing bridge replacement work at the Matabitchuan Generating Station (GS) bailey bridge. Please see below for the updated work schedule:

May 5 - 9 | Bridge closed
May 12 - 30 | Access available (minor delays possible)
June 2 - 6 | Bridge closed
June 9 - 26 | Access available (minor delays possible)

Please note that work will not be taking place on weekends and the bridge will be accessible. Work time frames are subject to change - we will advise of new dates if necessary.

Road closed every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – ongoing (Complete closure – associated with work taking place at the dam)
